چکیده
Based on the first 13.4 yr of Fermi science data in energy range from 300 MeV to 500 GeV, we discovered a bright GeV gamma-ray source with $\sim$5.64 $\sigma$ detection, named J1242.5+3236, which has an offset about 0fdg0996 nearby star-forming galaxy NGC 4631. When using 12-yr data, detection significance J1242.5+3236 is 4.72 $\sigma$. steady point without significant temporal variability and hard photon index -1.60 $\pm$0.24. The spatial spectrum disfavor this as diffuse emission galaxy. This new might have possible origin unidentified background blazar, more likely high-synchrotron-peaked blazar for its index. A follow-up optical observation would help distinguish J1242.5+3236.

Chandra Imaging of the Gamma-ray Source Gev J1809-2327
We report on Chandra imaging observations of the Galactic Unidentified γ-ray source GEV J1809-2327, comparing the X-ray images with new VLA 1.46 GHz and 4.86 GHz maps. The X-ray images reveal a point source connected to a non-thermal X-ray/radio nebula, supporting a pulsar/wind model for the γ-ray emitter. We also detect numerous X-ray sources from the young stellar association in the adjacent ...
متن کاملA Possible Origin of Bimodal Distribution of Gamma-ray Bursts
We study the distribution of the durations of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) in the unified model of short and long GRBs recently proposed by Yamazaki, Ioka, and Nakamura. Monte Carlo simulations show clear bimodal distributions, with lognormal-like shapes for both short and long GRBs, in a power-law as well as a Gaussian angular distribution of the subjets. We find that the bimodality comes from the ...
متن کاملGeV-TeV Gamma-ray Astronomy
The history of gamma-ray astronomy began in the 1950’s when Hayakawa [1] and Morrison [2] predicted that gamma-rays would be produced via neutral pion decays generated in collisions of cosmic-rays with interstellar matter. Cherenkov observation of air showers was pioneered by Jelly [3] and Chudakov applied this technique to search for gamma-ray signals from celestial sources [4]. Since this ear...
متن کاملPossible Origin of Lognormal Distributions in Gamma-Ray Bursts
We show that if the intrinsic break energy of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) is determined by the product of more than three random variables the observed break energy distribution becomes almost lognormal including the redshift effect because of the central limit theorem. The excess from the lognormal distribution at the low break energy is possibly due to the high redshift GRBs. The same argument ma...
متن کاملIndication of Gamma-Ray Emission from the Newly Discovered Dwarf Galaxy Reticulum II.
We present a search for γ-ray emission from the direction of the newly discovered dwarf galaxy Reticulum II. Using Fermi-LAT Collaboration data, we detect a signal that exceeds expected backgrounds between ∼2-10 GeV and is consistent with annihilation of dark matter for particle masses less than a few ×10^{2} GeV. Modeling the background as a Poisson process based on Fermi-LAT diffuse models,...
